Alain Prost is a retired French racing driver. Prost was an influential figure in the world of Formula One during the 1980s and 1990s. Such was his influence, he received a World Sports Award of the Century in 1999. During his time in Formula One, he won four Formula One Drivers’ Championships. Between 1987 and 2001, the racing legend held the record for Grand Prix victories. Prost won 51 Grand Prix races and made the podium over 100 times. He raced for a number of teams, including Ferrari, McLaren, Renault and Williams.

Prost was nicknamed the Professor, such was his intelligent approach to racing. He was particularly skilled at getting the best out of his car, based on the race conditions. This was long before the technology we know now exists in the sport. He had a relaxed and smooth approach to racing, modeling himself on his racing heroes such as Jackie Stewart.

Prost retired in 1993, having just won the 1993 F1 Drivers Championship. He would later become a TV pundit and continued working in the world of Formula One.
