As one of the most famous British racing drivers of all time, F1 champion Jenson Button MBE is a name celebrated by both fans of the sport and proud Brits.
Jenson’s career as a racing driver began age eight on the karting scene, where early success rapidly propelled him into the world of car racing. He participated in the British Formula Ford and British Formula 3 Championships in his early years, before progressing to Formula One in 2000. He secured his first drive with Williams, making him Britain’s youngest ever Formula One driver. At the time he was described as a ‘phenomenon’ by former racing driver Gerhard Berger and was widely tipped as a rising star in the sport despite his inexperience on the circuit.
His time on the F1 circuit has been nothing short of remarkable – delivering win after win for his chosen team. He has a total of 15 wins, 8 pole positions and 50 podiums to his name, winning the Formula One outright in 2009 with Brawn GP.
As is the case with many other racing drivers, Button has an array of passions and interests external to Formula One. He established The Jenson Button Foundation in 2010, which distributes funds to a variety of charitable causes. He has a huge collection of supercars and also enjoys mountain biking and participating in triathlons.
