Nigel Mansell is a true British sporting legend and is ranked in the Top 10 F1 drivers of all time. He won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year on two occasions. Mansell remains one of only five people to have won the award multiple times. He also holds the accolade of a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire). This was for his work for the UK Youth and services to young people and children. He also holds an OBE for his services to racing.
During his career, Mansell earned 59 podium finishes. Of these he won 31 races in total, with his first victory at the European Grand Prix in 1985. His last victory was nine years later in 1994 in Australia. During his career, he raced for a number of teams including Lotus, Williams, Ferrari and McLaren. He raced in Formula One across 15 different seasons. His consistency at the top level, for such a long time, earned him a huge following.
