Hull City is a professional football club based in the East Riding area of Yorkshire.  The club were founded in 1904 and are nicknamed the Tigers.  They play in black and amber stripes, hence their nickname the Tigers.  There were initially problems trying to form a football club in Hill, such is the dominance of Rugby League in the city.  The two big Rugby League clubs are Hull Kingston Rover (also known as Hull KR) and Hull F.C.  The football club is known as Hull City Association Football Club.  Hull City’s first professional match was against Stockton in the FA Cup preliminary round.  They drew 3-3.

In 2014 Hull reached it’s first FA Cup Final after beating Sheffield United 5-3 in the semi-final at Wembley.  They met Arsenal in the final knowing they were awarded a place in the following season’s UEFA Europa League competition, regardless of whether they won or not.  Arsenal had already qualified for the UEFA Champions League, meaning Hull City would compete in Europe for the first time.

After only 10 minutes in the FA Cup Final, Hull were 2-0 up and dreaming of victory.  Arsenal made a great comeback and eventually beat Hull 3-2 after extra time.  In their debut season in Europe they were knocked out on away goals by Slovakian side FK AS Trencin.

Hull made it to the Premier League in 2008, beating Bristol City 1-0 in the Play-Off Final.  They were relegated and promoted a number of times, eventually being relegated in 2016 again which led to their demise.  Steve Bruce resigned as managed in 2016 after a dispute with the club owners.  His replacement Mike Phelan was sacked three months later and the next manager Silva resigned following relegation in 2017.  Hull City were relegated in 2020 to League One.
