Antoine Griezmann is the current forward for Atletico Madrid and the French national team. He is loan from Barcelona as the club attempt to reduce their wage bill during the COVID crisis. Griezmann is an exceptional talent and can play across a number of positions. He can play in midfield, as a winger or as a striker. Although he is attack-minded he is also renowned for his ability to support defence and to pass the ball. He is known as a real team player, something that isn’t always familiar with strikers. Although left-footed, he can play with both feet and is an accurate finisher. He is strong in the air, despite his small stature.

Griezmann finished his youth career at Real Sociedad and was promoted to the senior squad in 2009. He played for Sociedad until 2014 and moved to Atletico in 2014 for around 30 million Euros. He had a successful time at Atletico winning the UEFA Europa League in 2017-2018, the Supercopa de Espana in 2014 and UEFA Super Cup in 2018. Griezmann finished on the losing side in the 2015-2016 UEFA Champions League against arch-rivals Real Madrid. He won numerous personal awards along the way and was nominated for the Ballon d’Or in both 2016 and 2018.

Barcelona signed Griezmann for 120 million Euros in 2019. He won the Copa del Rey with Barca, before moving back to Atletico on loan in 2021. Atletico have the option to buy him for 40 million Euros. Griezmann is also a key member of the France national team winning the FIFA World Cup in 2018. He also has a runner up medal from the UEFA European Championship in 2016. He has played 98 times for France to-date and has scored 41 goals for his country.
