Rice is a rising star for both West Ham and the England national football team. He was brought up in London and originally signed up to the Chelsea Academy in 2006, aged just 7. Declan eventually moved to the West Ham Academy in 2014. He made such an impression in the youth setup that he signed his first professional contract a year later. His senior debut was in 2017 when he came on as a last-minute substitute. He would make his full debut at the start of the 2017-2018 season on 19th August 2017. Although he was born in London, his paternal grandparents were Irish which meant he was eligible to play for the Irish national team. This meant he played for the Irish youth teams between 2015 and 2018. He then gained promotion to the Republic of Ireland’s first team in 2018, making 3 appearances. He changed allegiances to the England national team in 2019. To date he has earned 27 England caps, scoring 2 goals.
