Argentina’s track record on the world stage is nothing short of remarkable. They are two-time FIFA World Cup winners – narrowly missing the title three times in 1930, 1990 and 2014. They have won the Copa America a whopping 14 times, with two Olympic Gold medals to their name to boot. Youth talent is also strong in Argentina – with their homegrown success clearly demonstrated by six U-20s World Cup wins.

Argentina is perhaps most famous for its legendary player Diego Maradona and the ‘hand of God’ incident – when he secured a winning goal against England thanks to a suspected handball. He later ambiguously described the goal as being scored ‘a little with his head and a little with the hand of God’. Other world-renowned exports include Lionel Messi, Gabriel Batistuta and Sergio Aguero.
