The French national football team are also known as Les Bleus (The Blue). As the name suggests, the teams primary colour is blue, with touches of red and white. The colours originate from the national flag of France, known as the Tricolore. They have the coq gaulois as it’s the symbol they proudly wear on their shirts. They are the reigning FIFA World Cup holders, having beaten Croatia in the final of the World Cup in July 2018.

They competed in the inaugural World Cup held in Uruguay in 1930 where they won their first World Cup match 4-1 against Mexico. They won their first World Cup in 1998, a tournament in which they hosted. They won their second World Cup in 2018 which was held in Russia. They defeated Croatia 4-2 in the final. They were runners up in 2006.
They have also won the UEFA European Championship twice. They hosted and won the tournament in 1984 and won it again in 2000. Another tournament they have won twice is the FIFA Confederations Cup, in 2001 and 2003.
They have a host of superstars that have worn the famous blue jersey including Zinedine Zidane, Michel Platini, Thierry Henry and Jean-Pierre Papin. Lilian Thuram is their most capped player, with 142 appearances.
