Aberdeen Football Club play in the Scottish Premiership. They have played in the top tier of Scottish football since they were promoted into the league in 1905. They were founded in 1903 as a result of a merger between three other clubs from the Aberdeen area. Despite remaining in the top division for such a long period of time, they didn’t compete for any major honours until after the 2nd World War.  They won their first major trophies under the management of David Halliday.

Sir Alex Ferguson changed the club’s fortunes in the 1980s and experienced significant success. Under his leadership, Aberdeen won three Scottish league titles, a Scottish League Cup and four Scottish Cups. During this period they regularly competed in European football. They went on to win the European Cup Winners’ Cup and the European Super Cup in 1983. Aberdeen remains the only Scottish club to have won two European titles.

Aberdeen play their home games at Pittodrie Stadium. They have played at the same home stadium since they were formed in 1905. The stadium was the first all-seater stadium that was fully covered in the United Kingdom. It also holds the accolade of being the first football stadium to have a dug-out! It holds 20,866 people. Aberdeen plays in red and white, and have done so since 1939.
