Dundee Football Club was founded in 1893 and was a merger between two other Dundee clubs. These clubs were Dundee East End and Dundee Our Boys. This was in order to apply for the Scottish Football League. They quickly became accustomed to the Scottish League, coming runners-up a number of times. They went on to win the Scottish Cup in 1910 and were one of the major players in Scottish football until the 1930s.

Dundee’s most successful period was during the 1960s when the legendary Bob Shankly was managing the club. They won the Scottish League in 1962 and reached the semi-finals of the European Cup during the season 1962-1963. Dundee won the League Cup in 1974 but haven’t won any major trophies since. The club experienced decline from the late 1970s and have experienced a number of financial issues in addition to a number of relegations.

Their main rivals are Dundee United who a located on the same road as Dundee. The two clubs contest the Dundee derby and experience a fierce rivalry. Dundee’s home stadium is Dens Park. The club nickname is ‘The Dee’ or ‘The Dark Blues’.
