Dundee United FC are based in the city of Dundee, Scotland.  They changed their name to their present name in 1923, having previously been called Dundee Hibernian.  They were formed in 1909 and have two nicknames, ‘The Tangerines’ after their distinctive tangerine kits, and ‘The Terrors’.  Dundee United fans are known as the Arabs.

Dundee United have played their home games at Tannadice Park and have been doing since they were formed.  They were inaugural members of the Scottish Premier League in 1998.  They were ever-present in the SPL until 2016 when they were relegated to the Scottish Championship in 2016.  They were promoted back to the Scottish Premier League in 2020.

Their most successful season was 1982-1983 when they won the Scottish Premier Division.  They went on to reach the European Cup semi-finals the following season.  United have won both the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup on two occasions.  Their most recent success was in 2010 when they won the Scottish Cup.  They appeared in European competition in 14 successive seasons from 1976.

Their main rivals are their city neighbours Dundee.  Dundee’s stadium, Den’s Park is virtually next door to Tannadice Park.  They are bitter rivals and contest the Dundee derby.  Dundee United also share a few more rivalries including the ‘New Firm’ derby between Aberdeen, following their fierce competition in the 1970s and 1980s.  They also compete with St Johnstone due to their proximity to each other.
