St Johnstone currently play in the Scottish Premiership and are based in Perth, in Scotland. The club was founded in 1884 with its name formed from an old name of Perth – Saint Jounstoun, or St John’s Toun. A unique statistic for the club is the fact they are the only pro club in Britain with a J in their name.
St Johnstone play their home games at McDiarmid Park which has a capacity of just over 10,000. They have played there since 1989 and wear the home colours of blue shirt and white shorts. A blue signed St Johnstone shirt is popular amongst ‘The Saints’, as they are known. The club are well known to move between the top two tiers of the Scottish leagues. They would regularly get promoted to the top league, then relegated again soon after. The club were victorious in the Scottish Cup in 2014 when they beat Dundee United 2-0 in the final. In 2021 they went one better and won both the Scottish League Cup and Scottish Cup to win a cup double.
