Nick Faldo is one of golf’s biggest legends. Such was his influence on the game of golf he was knighted in 2009 for his services to the game of gold. As you can imagine any golf item with a Nick Faldo signature is in high demand. Faldo has won numerous awards including BBC Sports Personality of the Year and has been labeled ‘arguably the greatest English golfer of all time’.
He was ranked World Number one for almost 100 weeks such was his consistency in the game. Faldo amassed 41 wins on the professional tour across his career. This included six majors, three of which were Open Championships, the other three at the Masters. In 1990 he won both tournaments.
The golf legend was renowned for his calm composure which helped lead him to victory, whilst opponents made mistakes. His work ethic was second to none and he was known to keep himself to himself. Standing at over 6ft he was also known to be intimidating to his opponents. He would stare them down, causing some players to make mistakes. He was Ryder Cup captain in 2008 for the Europeans and he had a tricky relationship with the media and players alike. Team USA eventually won the tournament.
