The PGA Tour is arguably the biggest golf tour in the world. It organises all the events on the tournaments included within the ‘main’ PGA Tour. Other tours that sit within the PGA remit include the PGA Tour Champions (held for golfers over 50), Korn Ferry Tour (aimed at younger golfers in the development stages in the United States), PGA Tour Canada (development tour for Canada), PGA Tour China (development tour in China) and PGA Tour of Latin America (development tour in Latin America). So as you can imagine it is extensive.
The name PGA Tour started in 1975 having previously had a number of other formats. Its origins go all the way back to 1916 and it has a strong focus on fundraising for charity. Rules state that events on the tour need to be for non-profit. The organisation generates almost $200 million for charities across the six tours in which it operates.
