Hideki Matsuyama is the first Japanese golfer to win a Major on the men’s tour. The Japanese superstar won the 2021 Masters tournament in Augusta. It was the first tournament following the Covid pandemic that allowed spectators to watch. He won by one shot with a great last round of 10 below par. This made him the first golfer born in Asia to win the tournament. The prize fund for the winner was reported to be $2,700,000.
He has 17 professional wins to date and has been ranked as high as second in the Official World Golf Rankings. He has won four tournaments on the PGA Tour, three on the European Tour, eight on the Japan Golf Tour, plus one other victory.
