The Masters is known by a few names. It is sometimes called The Masters Tournament, The Masters or the U.S. Master. The Masters is one of the 4 major tournaments or championships in pro golf. The tournament is usually held in the glorious surroundings of Augusta Golf Club. It is a stunning setting and a challenging golf course. Augusta has previously been ranked as the top golf course in the world. It was built in 1936 and is a 72-par course, 7,475 yards in length.
The tournament in Augusta is held in April and is the first major of the year. The prize fund is set at around $15,000,000 with the winner getting around $2,700,000. There are a number of traditions including the Green Jacket. The winner of the tournament gets the huge prize money plus a unique green jacket. Signed Masters memorabilia is in huge demand because many of the previous winners have signed the items. The previous winner of the Masters gets to put the green jacket on the new winner. Prior to each event, all the previous winners get to attend The Champion’s Dinner.
