Lomu was a legendary Rugby Union player who was the youngest player to feature for the All Blacks, aged just 19. He was first recognised as a great when he played in the Hong Kong Sevens tournament in 1994. His speed down the wing stood out, especially bearing in mind his 6ft 5 inches stature. He became the first worldwide star in the world of rugby such was his influence on games. Lomu made a particular impact in the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Although the All Blacks lost in the final to South Africa, Lomu was attracting crowds throughout the tournament. He is the current joint record try-scorer at Rugby World Cups with 15 tries. This is one of the reasons why the Jonah Lomu signature is so sought after.

The rugby superstar played for a number of clubs in New Zealand, Wales and Frances. After suffering from injuries and health issues, Lomu retired from pro rugby in 2007. He was diagnosed with kidney disease in 1995. Despite undergoing a kidney transplant, Lomu passed away in 2015 after suffering a heart attack. He has left a legacy on the game with traditional wingers now being large in stature.
