Richie McCaw was captain of the All Black in over 100 tests during his career. In total, he earned 148 caps for his country and is an All Black legend. Richie captained his country to 2 Rugby World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015. Such was his influence on the team, he won a record three World Rugby Player of the Year. He was also voted World Rugby Player of the decade in 2021.
McCaw had earned the most international caps in Rugby Union, until Alun Wyn Jones overtook him in 2020. His main position was openside flanker although he would also play as a Number Eight and blindside flanker. As well as playing for the All Blacks, he played club rugby for Canterbury and then Crusaders. The majority of his career was spent with the Crusaders where he made 145 appearances. He also played for the Barbarians in 2008.
