Tom Curry was born in Hounslow in 1998. He shares the same 15th June birthday with his twin brother, Ben Curry. The rugby legend is a key member of the England international rugby team. His main position is flanker but he can also play at Number 8, which he has before for England. Tom plays for North-West side, the Sale Sharks. He plays with his brother Ben, who also stars for the team. Ben also can play as flanker.
Curry played for Crewe & Nantwich as an amateur. During his time there he was coached by his father, Bobby Walsh. He made his professional debut for Sales Sharks against Scarlets in 2016, aged just 18. Curry is the youngest Sale Shark’s player to play in the European Champions Cup. He had a hugely successful 2016-2017 season and was named as Sale Sharks’ Young Player of the Season. It was jointly awarded to him and his brother Ben.
The Rugby star played in the England U20 squad that won the Grand Slam in the Youth 2017 Six Nations Under 20 Championship. He was called up to the senior team by Eddie Jones in 2017, making his first appearance against the Barbarians. He played so well he won Man of the Match. It was classed as a ‘non-test’ fixture so he didn’t receive an official cap.
Curry made his debut and first capped appearance against Argentina in 2017. He was the youngest ever player to start as flanker for England. Tom played as No7 in all of England’s games at the 2020 Six Nations, scoring against the Scots and the Welsh. He also went to start in the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final.
Aged just 22, Curry already has winning medals for the Six Nations Championship and Autumn Nations Cup. He will hope to improve upon his World Cup runners-up medal in years to come. Such is the young man’s potential to build upon an already impressive career, this appears likely.
